Ja n 20 04 The X - ray and radio emission from SN 2002 ap : The importance of Compton scattering
نویسنده
چکیده
The radio and X-ray observations of the Type Ic supernova SN 2002ap are modeled. We find that inverse Compton cooling by photospheric photons explains the observed steep radio spectrum, and also the X-ray flux observed by XMM. Thermal emission from the shock is insufficient to explain the X-ray flux. The radio emitting region expands with a velocity of ∼ 70, 000 km s −1. From the ratio of X-ray to radio emission we find that the energy densities of magnetic fields and relativistic electrons are close to equipartion. The mass loss rate of the progenitor star depends on the absolute value of ǫ B , and is given by ˙ M ≈

The nature of the prompt X - ray and radio emission from SN 2002 ap ⋆
We report on the combined X-ray and radio observations of the type Ic SN2002ap, using XMMNewton TOO observation of M74 and the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope (GMRT). We account for the presence of a nearby source in the pre-supernova Chandra field of view in our measurements of the X-ray flux (0.3 10 KeV) 5.2 days after the explosion. The X-ray spectrum is well fitted by a power law spectrum w...
متن کاملUnfolding X-ray spectrum in the diagnostic range using the Monte Carlo Code MCNP5
Introduction: Unfolding X-ray spectrum is a powerful tool for quality control of X-ray tubes. Generally, the acquisition of the X-ray spectrum in diagnostic radiology departments is complicated and difficult due to high photon flux. Measurement of x ray spectra using radiation detectors could not be performed accurately, because of the pulse pile up. Therefore, indirect methods...
متن کاملAnisotropic inverse Compton emission in the radio galaxy 3 C 265 3
We present the results from a Chandra observation of the powerful radio galaxy 3C 265. We detect X–ray emission from the nucleus, the radio hotspots and lobes. In particular, the lobe X–ray emission is well explained as anisotropic inverse Compton scattering of the nuclear photons by the relativistic electrons in the radio lobes; the comparison between radio synchrotron and IC emission yields a...

متن کاملThe Extended Jet In AP Librae As The Source Of The VHE γ-ray Emission
Most modeling attempts of blazars use a small emission zone located close to the central black hole in order to explain the broad-band spectral energy distribution. Here we present a case where additionally to the small region a >kpc-scale jet is required to successfully reproduce the spectrum and especially the TeV emission, namely the low-frequeny peaked BL Lac object AP Librae detected in th...
